Additionally, they always have to be presentable when it comes to knowing how to look neat and tidy. Aside from their professional look, what makes them more admirable is their scarf fashion sense.

As we all know, a scarf is a versatile accessory that can be worn to a casual or formal event. Undeniably, scarves work wonders and add elegance to every flight attendants’ uniform.

So what started this trend and why do flight attendants wear scarves?

Technically, not all flight attendants are required to wear a scarf. It is their prerogative and they can wear one for personal function or fashion.

There are also many ways flight attendants wear scarves. With its versatility, there are many ways you will see flight attendants wear their scarves.  So, if you are an aspiring flight attendant and want to learn how to wear a scarf like them, here are the steps to wearing a scarf like a flight attendant.

You must use a small to medium-sized silk scarf as this is a formality. The wool or knitted scarves are too big for flight attendant uniforms. They also avoid long scarves as these are not practical for serving food or drinks.

I will also cover the slip knot technique flight attendants use when wearing a scarf. This is the most common type of scarf tying used by flight attendants and other women in a formal uniform.

Here are the instructions on how to tie a scarf in slip knot.

1.       Roll the scarf from one corner up to the other end. You may adjust the width of the roll according to your preference and its proportion to your neck.

2.       Put the rolled scarf on your neck.

3.       Then tie it like how men tie their scarves. Wrap one end of the scarf around the other end.

4.       Then pull the same end of the scarf through the loop made on your neck.

5.       Tighten the scarf according to your preference. And VOLA! You are done and ready to get on board.

There are other knots that some flight attendants use and some will use a scarf ring to achieve these looks. Make sure you check out the airline websites to get some more ideas! You just need to use your imagination and don’t forget that charming smile!

27109-iid_175x132

Giving your girlfriend, mother, wife or even grandmother an accessory as a gift on her birthday could be the most perfect thing to give, especially if that accessory is a scarf with a Hermes Scarf Ring. There are so many options of scarves and it is easy to get confused about which one to choose.  Despite the wide variety of scarves to choose from, scarves all serve the same purpose and it is just a matter of the style of the person you are buying for. Think about questions such as if the person often wears casual or formal wear or wears certain colors time after time and these questions will help guide you to the right scarf.  Here are the types of scarves you may like to pick and give to your special someone:

·         WRAP – Wrap and shawl may be almost similar when it comes to size, though the wrap is a little bit wider (by 100 centimeters) and it is not usually worn to wrap around the shoulders and forearms. Additionally, a wrap has a higher fabric density and is usually made out of silk and cashmere.

·         STOLE – A stole has three feature categories – the texture, size, use. A stole has an estimated length of 200 centimeters, and a width of 50-70 centimeters.

·         MUFFLER – What makes a muffler different from wraps and stoles is its shape, square not rectangular. Its uniqueness can make many interesting scarf styles you may love.

The Corset

The corset was most commonly worn in the early and mid-1800's and they were considered a medical necessity for women's fragile bodies. The stiffer and the heavier the frame of the corset, the tighter the lacing, the fancier the woman was (this would of course allow her to do not manual labor/sit/breathe, etc). The corset was typically made of whalebone and even steel.

This bit of history has been brought to you by Mrs. ScarfTips & Horn Scarf Rings because they aren't painful to wear.

Do’s and Don’ts When Washing Your Scarves

Have you ever pulled out a scarf from your closet only to find that it was stained? Have you ever found your favorite scarf on the floor where it has picked up lots of dust? Every scarf collector has been through a time where they have had to clean one of their scarves and if you haven’t, there’s nothing to worry about; your scarves can be cleaned!  There are certain guidelines that you should follow when cleaning your scarf.  Here are the dos and don’ts when cleaning your scarves.

DO – Hand wash your scarves. You can also try something call the “bottle technique” where the scarf is put in a glass bottle and shaken back and forth.

DON’T- Wash your scarf in a machine. Washing it using the washing machine might destroy the fabric due to its twirling. You wouldn’t want one of the threads to get loose!

DO- Dry your scarf the traditional way. Hang it to dry but do not put it in direct sunlight, as the color of the scarf might fade.

DON’T-Dry clean it. Just like the laundry machine, this might cause to the fabric to unravel.

DO- Use a mild detergent for the specific fabric of your scarf. There are certain soaps for certain types of fabric. Use one that matches the scarf’s material.

DON’T- Use alkali detergents or soap detergents. Theycontain strong ingredients that could cause the fabric’s color to fade.

Generally, these are simple dos and don’ts to remember when washing your scarves. The scarves’ cleaning process may differ to some manufacturers. So when washing your scarf, check the manufacturer’s instructions and follow them.

Accessorizing Your Scarves

As a big fan of scarves, I have experimented with a lot of ways on how to wear a scarf in unique and fashionable ways. I was excited when I found out that there were certain scarf accessories that helped to add mileage to scarves and also helped with tying more complex knots.

There are so many scarf accessories you can use to accentuate on your scarves. You can use accessories such as scarf rings, scarf slides or brooches. When I use brooch, it helps the scarf to stay in just one position while I am on the move. Another fun way to use a scarf brooch is to wear it like a scarf bracelet. But if you do not own any scarf accessory, you may still use other accessories available in your closet. Just remember not to use accessories, which have sharp edges as it might tear the silk. If you have accessories with some weight, such as a ring, these works well with your scarves as they can hold them in place.

What Everyone Ought To Know About Scarf Rings?

Look fabulous in your scarf by slipping on a horn scarf ring. A scarf ring is a scarf accessory used to hold your scarf in a secure and fabulous way. Though scarves already bring out the best in your wardrobe, adding a scarf ring brings a whole new level of complexity to your total look (except it is really easy to create). Scarf rings also give you many more scarf tying options and ways you can tie your scarves, without having to buy any more scarves.

There are also different kinds of scarf rings but I personally prefer the buffalo horn chaine d’ancre scarf ring. It is a French name for “anchor chain”. The chaine d’ancre aids in anchoring your scarf, without using too much scarf to secure the knot. The scarf ring also helps to make your scarf look newly iron-pressed. The chaine d’ancre scarf ring is extremely pleasing to use when wearing vintage and delicate kinds of scarves because buffalo horn goes with everything! Moreover, chaine d’ancre is not just an ordinary scarf accessory but can also be used as jewellery.

I recently returned form my vacation to Mexico and we had an amazing time! I went with my mom and my 3 siblings. It was fantastic to get together with everyone. My two sisters were very inspired by the scarves I brought I helped them with some scarf techniques.

Does this remind you of another start that pushes the limits?

Lady Gaga perhaps??

.     The best way to wear a scarf is to use a Hermes Scarf Ring, and learn all the cool knots you can do with them from the Hermes Play book.

If you don't have a scarf ring here are some ideas.

·

Neck tie style- Laid the scarf flat. Then fold it diagonally such that it forms a triangle. Then fold it until it makes a 2-inch band. Put it on your neck like a tie and make the tie loose. You may put the knot on the side or the middle depending on the outfit you are wearing.

·         Ascot look- Lay the scarf then pull it towards the opposite side and hold it from the center. Make a tiny knot and flip each end to keep the knot underneath. Place the scarf around your neck and just let it fall in front.

·         Shawl style- You use a very large scarf on this so that the scarf will reach from the neck to the hips. Start by folding the scarf into a triangle shape. Put one end of the scarf to one shoulder and let the other hang on the torso. Get both ends, and knot it.

·         Simple look- You just have to fold the scarf in triangle shape. Then wrap it around your neck and let both ends hang in front.
