The Corset

The corset was most commonly worn in the early and mid-1800's and they were considered a medical necessity for women's fragile bodies. The stiffer and the heavier the frame of the corset, the tighter the lacing, the fancier the woman was (this would of course allow her to do not manual labor/sit/breathe, etc). The corset was typically made of whalebone and even steel.

This bit of history has been brought to you by Mrs. ScarfTips & Horn Scarf Rings because they aren't painful to wear.
