Students of Olin B-school tour big time fashion establishments

Coco Chanel, a very renowned fashion designer, did not take any marketing class in her time. But this semester, she helps students at Olin B-school, Washington University in St. Louis by teaching marketing. This new course, Luxury Apparel-Marketing B53, aids students in examining brands that make up the $237 billion industry. The students extensively researched on strategies, financial and business models of Europe’s sophisticated and luxurious apparels. In addition, the accessory marketers are preparing for a two-week tour at Meccas of fashion, namely: Milan, Rome, Paris and London. This tour will conduct meetings with fashion executives from Armani and Prada to Hermes and Burberry. In Paris, Professor Martin K. Sneider and his 15 undergraduate students will meet with Chanel’s president of fashion activities, Bruno Pavolsky. And they will tour Coco Chanels’ private apartment, which is above her boutique at 31, Rue Cambon.
